My Guilty (Secretive) TV Pleasure

I have recently been spending time with a new friend, a fellow mom.  We are just getting to know each other so we are slowly learning what we’re all about.  I asked her the other day if there are any shows she watches on TV that she doesn’t mention because they may embarrass her.  She looked at me with a sideways, confused look.  I giggled as I realized what my question sounded like.  The truth is, I just wanted to know if she too watched the Bachelorette.

Yes, my guilty, secretive pleasure is reality television and more specifically, these days, The Bachelorette.  Emily has been, in my opinion, the best bachelorette ever.  Yes, our proudly Canadian Jillian was brilliant during her season.  She has been one of the few Canadians featured in the Bachelor/Bachelorette that makes us proud.

Emily has seemed so accurate in her character judgement, sweet, asking the questions that matter and besides Sean (the next Bachelor), I could always understand why she sent everyone home.  Today, I enjoyed reading up on the remaining two Jef and Arie.  Have you gone to www.peoplewater.com to check out Jef Holm’s company?  It is brilliant and inspiring to see what they are doing to provide water for communities without water. Mealtimes With My Two Year Old

I expressed recently in Life With a Toddler…  Is A Rollercoaster how my two year old toddler mealtimes were chaotic.  At the time I wrote this post, I was at the highest point of tension with meals.  We experienced various forms of expression during grace, he’d rather discuss all of the other things he would rather be eating than what I’ve prepared.  Flying food was almost inevitable.  A short few days later, I changed my attitude.  I stopped fighting.

I have new mealtime habits: Continue reading

Late Again!

If I haven’t told you already, I have a deep admiration for my wonderful, wise husband.  He is analytical, just like me (poor us) so we are often able to debate, discuss and analyze any topic….  to death.

When I first met my husband, he came to me disciplined, driven, full of life experiences to share and oh so much more.  One thing I knew I could count on was that he would be…  On Time.  Can you believe it?  Isn’t it wonderful to know that there is someone who is predictable and dependable.  He does not like to be late, he would cancel rather than arrive late somewhere.  His strong desire to arrive on time has been an excellent influence on me.  I was always the one flying in at the last second, I was known to be the one applying my make up while driving, pressing snooze fifteen times (despite moving my alarm clock completely across the room) and leaving for my destination at the last minute with only perfect driving conditions considered.  Continue reading

Soccer, Soccer

I went in to visit my last employer and I was invited to play in an outdoor soccer league this summer.  Hmmm…  Something to consider, I suppose.  I would think about it, chat with my wonderful partner, and check it out.

I went for the first practice of the season to see if I would have the skills to be on the team and consider whether I should join.  I left home, only thinking of myself.  It was a feeling I hadn’t had since I was single many years ago.  Back then, I was taking dance lessons, working full time and part time and taking College courses on the side.  Free time was rare and if anyone asked me to do something and I had the time free, I would say yes only because I didn’t know how to say no. Friends To Treasure

Spring has sprung.  I glance out the window and realize the blazing sun means mommy and sons need to be outside and not cooped up in our home.  I’ve recently received a blessing in our home to help ensure I will be treasuring more time with my boys during the warm enough to be outside season.  Our computer is officially cooked.  Burnt actually.  A few weeks ago, I clicked on something and then there was nothing.  Dead.  I occasionally walk by and press the power button, in hopes that an electrical charge has zapped it back into operation but to my dismay it has failed to ignite.  We are computerless.  These are the days that I wish I was a computer genius just so I’d know if all of my unbacked up photos are gone for good or if I could replace something and be back in operation.  The truth is, I do believe it has been time for a new computer for a while but I haven’t made it a priority.  And now that I have no choice and didn’t budget for it, we will remain computerless until I make it a priority.

I’ve missed blog world, my new friendships, writing companions and encouraging pals.  I shall be back again another day. Continue reading

Kelly Live in Banff, Alberta

Live! with Kelly will be in Banff, Alberta from April 2 – 5, 2012.  The Alberta Government invested $1.5 Million to bring the show to Banff / Lake Louise and they expect to earn back all of their money with increased tourism from the Live! with Kelly viewers.

Tune in and see if you see any familiar places and faces from their time in Banff, Alberta.  Perhaps it will inspire you to book your summer vacation too.

Children…. Always On Our Minds

To be honest with you, I don’t leave my boys very often.  Daddy and I were able to enjoy a couple extra dates more recently since my big sister was staying in our home but prior to that it was rare to be gone more than half an hour.

I had a lovely evening out with my niece this week while daddy cared for our little ones.  We were able to take in Chris Tomlin (wow, great time).  We enjoyed the entire experience together, my niece is wonderful, I adore her passion for God.  She makes me proud.   Continue reading
