I made a mistake last month, I forgot to pay my Mastercard. The beginning of a new month is my regular reminder of my Mastercard due date so I’ll quickly find out the balance and pay my bill. I realized on the 7th of the month of my error – Horrors! I’ve shared in the past how I pay for almost anything I can with my mastercard in order to earn points and we had paid for our vacation on the bill so it was a significant bill, one you wouldn’t want to miss paying!
Today, I logged on to check out the damage, oh yes, and to schedule my upcoming bill for the beginning of next month (don’t want to learn that lesson twice). Ouch, it hurt. We have an interest rate of 19.99% so I don’t like to pay interest. I don’t have an allotment in my budget for interest payments so what am I going to do with the $70.00 charge. I quickly called the bank to ask if they’d please give me a discount on the interest as I normally pay my bill on time. She said that she acknowledged that we’ve never paid our bill late before so for one time, they would forgive this interest and would only charge me a small fee for the three or four days I was late with the payment. I cried, I was so pleased.
Presidents Choice Financial, I thank you, thank you, thank you!
Today I would like to inspire you to work and go the extra mile in your marriage.
I am pleased to share my favourite Matthew Henry Quote:
The woman was made of a rib out of the side of Adam; not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved.
As I read it again, I am moved. In my mind it symbolizes so clearly what God’s intentions are for a relationship between husband and wife. Continue reading →
I have recently been spending time with a new friend, a fellow mom. We are just getting to know each other so we are slowly learning what we’re all about. I asked her the other day if there are any shows she watches on TV that she doesn’t mention because they may embarrass her. She looked at me with a sideways, confused look. I giggled as I realized what my question sounded like. The truth is, I just wanted to know if she too watched the Bachelorette.
Yes, my guilty, secretive pleasure is reality television and more specifically, these days, The Bachelorette. Emily has been, in my opinion, the best bachelorette ever. Yes, our proudly Canadian Jillian was brilliant during her season. She has been one of the few Canadians featured in the Bachelor/Bachelorette that makes us proud.
Emily has seemed so accurate in her character judgement, sweet, asking the questions that matter and besides Sean (the next Bachelor), I could always understand why she sent everyone home. Today, I enjoyed reading up on the remaining two Jef and Arie. Have you gone to www.peoplewater.com to check out Jef Holm’s company? It is brilliant and inspiring to see what they are doing to provide water for communities without water. Continue reading →
Out and about during my regular outings with my one and two year old, we are known to pick up a toasted blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese and/or a toasted sesame bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese at our favourite coffee shop. I justify the bagel as part of their diets for their need for fat and calcium accompanied by the filling bagel.
The following is a description of the service I received from various door companies while seeking to repair my garage door.
We have had a problem recently with our garage door closing unevenly. Our door was fully functional, just had a gap on the bottom of the one side when it was closed (obviously). We googled how to repair the door and came upon some excellent videos to help us out. We didn’t have the correct tools for the job and due to the risk of something breaking, we decided we’d hire a professional in garage doorland. Since, I`m home and have a more flexible schedule, I`ll make the arrangements for repair. Continue reading →
I have shared with you in the post My Mommy CleaningThrill the Dyson’s hold on me. A few weeks ago, we were using the vacuum for an extensive cleaning project and the release to allow the handle to go down didn’t seem to be holding so the front of the vacuum would just fall down ifI lifted it up at all. I got down and tried to figure out what was happening and I moved a switch and a screw fell out so the spring fell off. It lined right up with the ball so I’d have to disassemble everything to attempt this repair! How frustrating, my vacuum is just over a year old!’ Continue reading →
Do you ever have one of those days when you’ve accomplished so much that you check to see what time it is because you’re sure it must be 4:00 by now, only to find out it is only 1:30? I had one of those days today. It was wonderful.
My big boy is now two and a half and has recently developed an early morning wake up habit. Each morning I wake up to whispers of a two year old standing in the doorway or our room, somewhere between 5:00am and 6:00am. His sweet morning smiles are truly irresistable. We are trying to figure out what the best routine is for this new adjustment. He has blackout blinds in his room but he can see the early morning light shine through the edges so why wouldn’t he get out of bed the first time he wakes up? I have placed a chair outside his door for him to turn on his light and play in his room, prior to mommy getting up each morning. The chair has to wait outside his door or he’d never go to bed at night. This morning he had moved a kitchen chair up to the counter and had taken a half a loaf of raisin bed for his breakfast.
The best part about getting up early is that it gives you more time to get things done. Today, I mowed and watered the lawn, spent plenty of time weeding, picked up a new rain barrel, took the bottles to the bottle depot, washed the kitchen floor, washed mirrors, windows, filled the tires on both strollers, cleaned / vacuumed the car, vacuumed the house, dusted the living room, oh yes, caring for my two little boys. I was most productive during nap time. If only everyday felt this good.
If I haven’t told you already, I have a deep admiration for my wonderful, wise husband. He is analytical, just like me (poor us) so we are often able to debate, discuss and analyze any topic…. to death.
When I first met my husband, he came to me disciplined, driven, full of life experiences to share and oh so much more. One thing I knew I could count on was that he would be… On Time. Can you believe it? Isn’t it wonderful to know that there is someone who is predictable and dependable. He does not like to be late, he would cancel rather than arrive late somewhere. His strong desire to arrive on time has been an excellent influence on me. I was always the one flying in at the last second, I was known to be the one applying my make up while driving, pressing snooze fifteen times (despite moving my alarm clock completely across the room) and leaving for my destination at the last minute with only perfect driving conditions considered.
